The Basel History Factory / BGSH Annual Conference invites all researchers in the Department of History—whether doctoral candidates, postdocs, or professors—to collaborate in workshops at the Ostquai venue in Basel’s harbor area.

We’ll be joined by our guest speaker Lorraine Daston (Max Planck Institute for the History of Science, Berlin), who will deliver the keynote address «Natural Disasters and the Question of Blame» at 6 p.m.

In the evening, we’ll wrap up the event with our traditional semester opening reception / apéro and music.

For doctoral students, the BGSH Master Class with Lorraine Daston will take place on September 17, 2026 in the morning (see the attached flyer).
