Marie Muschalek is the recipient of a Starting Grant from the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). Her research project, entitled Killing to Keep: Violent Field Practices and Natural History in the Age of Empire, seeks to explore the humanistic knowledge practice of collecting animals within the borader context of nineteenth-century colonial violence.
