First blended-learning course at the Department of History: Examining African Contributions to Global Health
Offered this Spring Semester 2022, based on a five-week Massive Open Online Course (MOOC)
Africa has always been a site of medical innovation but for too long this has not been acknowledged and studied in the Global North.
This blended-learning course is based on a five-week Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) which was created by the team members of the Sinergia Project “African Contributions to Global Health” (www.globalhealthafrica.ch) and members of the History Department (Andrea Kifyasi, Andrea Graf). This course learns from Africa and shows what the continent has contributed to Global Health practices. It offers you a unique Africanist perspective and insights into different disciplines such as public health, urban planning, and history. Learners acquaint themselves with various tools, methodologies and theories and benefit from experts at the Swiss TPH, EPFL, History Department and their African partners. Thereby learners familiarise themselves with innovations that benefit public health not only in Africa but in other parts of the world or globally.
The MOOC on FutureLearn (https://www.futurelearn.com/) will be part of this interdisciplinary course. The course is offered by historian, MOOC-coordinator and lead educator Dr Tanja Hammel.
Thursdays: 14-16h, weekly
