The Professorship of Modern European History is headed by Prof. Martin Lengwiler and employs a medium-sized team of staff. The professorship is dedicated to the following tasks:
- We develop and pursue innovative research projects within the following fields of work: European history of the 19th and 20th centuries; history of the welfare state, history of science and knowledge.
- We offer courses on the work areas of the professorship. Teaching benefits from a variety of archival and practical references.
- In the sense of a contemporary promotion of early career researchers, we offer historians research-related work opportunities and an entry into an academic career.
- Those interested in writing a master's thesis or a dissertation can also use the list of suggestions for master's thesis topics as a guide for their choice of topic.
