Location: Department of History, Hirschgässlein 21, Seminar Room 2
This event provides a structured overview of the key questions and challenges involved in the final stage of a PhD in History. It focuses on completing the dissertation, time management and self-organization during the closing phase, dealing with writing blocks and exhaustion, formal and administrative steps leading up to submission, and preparing for the dissertation defense.
In addition, the event addresses expectations surrounding the defense itself, including typical procedures, common questions, strategies for academic and mental preparation, and ways to manage nervousness. The aim is to offer doctoral candidates guidance and reassurance as they approach the successful completion of their PhD projects.
The event is intended for advanced doctoral candidates in the final or concluding phase of their PhD, as well as for those who wish to prepare early for the last stage of the doctoral journey. A small apéro will take place afterwards in the common room at Hirschgässlein.
Depending on the registrations, the event will be held in either German or English.
